“I just want things to work properly.” So goes the personal motto of James Dyson, the entrepreneur and inventor behind the Dyson technology. These are the simple words that form the very principle which has driven this British company through 20 years of invention and innovation.

What is Dyson Technology All About?

There are two main products automatically associated with Dyson: the bagless vacuum cleaner and the bladeless fan. Dyson first came up with with the DCO1 vacuum cleaner  after 15 years of working on it borne out of frustration with existing vacuum cleaners that easily get clogged and lose suction. He went on to create the Dyson Digital Motor and the Dyson Airblade Hand Dryer, before the Dyson Air Multiplier Fan came out in 2009. The more recent product additions include the Dyson Hot Fan Heater and the Dyson Digital Slim which is a cordless vacuum powered by the Dyson Digital Motor. These products make use of specific technologies developed by Dyson engineers.

Dyson products work using various technologies that seek to solve everyday problems that most product manufacturers would ignore.

Root Cyclone Technology

The cyclone technology was inspired by the filtration system observed by James Dyson at a local saw mill. The cyclonic vacuum cleaner he invented uses g-force to pull dust particles from the airflow. This eliminates the use of bags to trap dirt and the related problem of clogged pores of the bag.

Air Multiplier Technology

The air multiplier technology has eliminated the use of blades in fans. Air is drawn to the base through the impellor where it will be accelerated up into the loop. The air is pushed out of an annular aperture to create high-pressure jet of air. Surrounding air is drawn into the airflow from behind and to the side of the fan thus multiplying the airflow.

Cordless Technology

The advantage of having a cordless vacuum is the greater ease in doing several cleaning tasks. One can alternate from cleaning carpets, light fixtures, and curtains with the flick of the wrist and without having to plug and unplug as cleaners go along. Cordless vacuum cleaners also have patented anti-static carbon fibre brushes for highly improved dust pick-up from hard floors.

Dyson Launch in the Philippines

I personally witnessed and heard about the engineering marvels of the Dyson technology during an event yesterday held at Bonifacio Global City. Dyson’s presence in the Philippines is an important component of its Asian expansion. Dyson currently sells machines in 67 countries and is an acknowledged market leader in the UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

Dyson believes that the Philippines is a good market for technology that works and lasts. Their engineers are always looking for challenges that will inspire them to come up with more innovations. I believe that Dyson is right in both.

My Say

Our country certainly can inspire a lot of innovations from Dyson engineers due to the fact there are many everyday challenges that need solving. Dyson is right when it says that the Philippines is ready for technology that works and last. We cannot settle for anything less if we are to solve anything at all. If Dyson technology is all about wanting things to work properly, then the company’s presence here is certainly welcome.
