Cancer diagnosis is like a death sentence hanging over a patient’s head. With the confirmation from the World Health Organization (WHO) that it is the leading cause of death worldwide, there is every reason to feel hopeless. In the heart of Guangzhou in China however, one hospital dares to challenge this reality. Read on and know more about Fuda Cancer Hospital and the cryosurgery alternative.

Fuda Tianhe Hospital Outlook
Conventional treatments for cancer include surgery, chemo, and radiation therapy. While these options offer varying degrees of success in treating cancer patients, results are often limited. Fuda Cancer Hospital was established 50 years ago by physicians who are looking for better cancer treatments.

Fuda Cancer Hospital

In the words of Fuda Cancer Hospital Chief President Xu Kecheng, the  hospital’s goal is to provide patients with the most appropriate treatment.  As a cancer survivor himself, he hopes that the hospital doctors can provide the best-fit, least painful treatment to their patients. It is his belief that humans will eventually conquer cancer and a cure or at least a long-term productive survival with cancer is possible. Given the fact that the entire hospital is dedicated to the treatment of cancer disease and has over 100 doctors available round-the-clock, there is every reason to believe that this will happen.

Team of Specialists

Once a patient decides to be treated at Fuda, he or she gets the benefit of being diagnosed and treated by a team of physicians. In the typical hospital setting, patients get to consult with 1 or 2 specialists, usually with only a single doctor deciding on the treatment. At Fuda, test results and the treatment plan is studied by a group of doctors so that several minds will be determining the best strategy to take for every patient. Each case is studied intently on a personalized basis.

Cryosurgery as an Alternative Cancer Treatment

The conventional methods for treating cancer are considered very invasive but still unable to offer a convincing rate of success in treating cancer. The search of Fuda for better cancer treatments led it to Cryosurgery. Cryosurgery is a process in which unwanted tissues are destroyed through intense cold applications. It is an important ablation technique as it destroys tumors by cycles of freezing and thawing. Once the temperature falls below -40°C, ice crystals may form within the cells wherein cell death is almost certain. Fuda has become the alternative treatment center in China for early or terminal stages of cancer.

Welcoming International Patients

Fuda has opened its doors to the world, accepting patients from different countries including the Philippines, for the last couple of years. The hospital has treated almost 10,000 patients in the last decade. In the Philippines, a group known as the Philippine Volunteers for Fuda, composed of families of patients with first hand experience with the services offered by the hospital, has been disseminating valuable information in  the hope that this will reach Filipinos who can benefit from the treatment. The Fuda business office in the country only offers consultation and all treatments are to be done in its hospital located in China. It is interesting to note that the cable line-up in the hospital rooms includes TFC (The Filipino Channel), ensuring that patients and their companions will not lose track of their favorite teleserye and other local shows.

Treatment Cost

Since cryosurgery is not available in the Philippines. patients will have to stay in China for a few months while being treated. The expected treatment cost is almost the same as to what is being offered by leading hospitals in the country. Airfare and accommodations costs will have to be factored in by patients and their families in making their estimations. For most patients, treatment with Fuda Cancer Hospital turns out to be more affordable and easier to manage. This is because patients only have to transact with the hospital unlike in the usual set up where patients have to pay every doctor who happens to handle the case. The entire team of doctors who will diagnose and treat the patient only requires a single payment.

40% Discount Promo on Hepasphere

Fuda Cancer Hospital is offering a 40% discount to Filipino cancer patients until April 30, 2016 for Hepasphere, its newest Chemo treatment. Hepasphere is the clinical use of microsphere embolization in chemotherapy.  In microsphere embolization doxorubicin, irinotecan and other chemotherapeutic agents are turned into super-absorbent bio-compatible gel particles. With the help of DSA imaging X-ray machine and a supermicro catheter, the chemo particles are injected into the tumors where abundant blood vessels exist. The particles remain at the small arteries, blocking the tumor blood vessels and reducing nutrition supply while continuously treating the tumor.

My Say

I had the chance to meet Mr. Li Feng, Fuda’s Director for its Malaysia Office. The information he shared was very enlightening to say the least. At best, it can save someone’s life. Cancer is something that we do not welcome into our lives because of the grief it can cause us and our families. There are recommended ways of avoiding it or minimizing chances of having it but we can never really know. The best option is to have regular check-ups especially when we notice something different in our body systems. The earlier cancer is caught, the better chances for patients’ survival.

For those who are currently facing cancer, I recommend that you check this option.

FUDA Cancer Hospital is located in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. It has two facilities one in Tianhe District(located in the 2nd, Tangde Xi Road, Tianhe District, Guangzhou) and one in Haizhu District (located in Jude Zhong Road, Haizhu District, Guangzhou). Both are well-equipped cancer treatment centers well-known for minimally invasive therapies, innovative treatments and conventional methods of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery.
