Teresay: The Story of How I Got My Say

Teresay, the blog, paved the way for experiences and opportunities that  would not have been possible if I had chosen not to do it. Personal development, sense of fulfillment, and financial earnings are just some of the benefits. More than all these, being able to have my say in a wide range of topics and issues I care about paved the way for my growth as a blogger, as a woman, and as a human being.

I write and publish my articles to share my views to the world. It will be an absolute lie to say I wasn’t hoping readers will relate and react to what I wrote. When readers started to respond by commenting and messaging, I knew this was something I’d like to do for a long time.

Early Blogging Days

My blogging days started out through part-time ghost-writing for other blogs. A year into this arrangement, I was invited to become a regular content contributor and eventually a content manager. Learning was the main reason why I stayed on for several years. This was the time I actually discovered my love for writing.

I decided to start my first blog by sharing my experiences as a parent. It was easy in a way because I was writing about real situations but I knew I was just preparing myself for the “real” one. I wanted a blog where I can have my say on issues and things happening beyond my family. Teresay.com was born.

Establishing Blog Identity

During this time, there were already so many blogs and bloggers. It was necessary to find one’s voice and identity among the many. Whether the intention is to become an influencer or not, it is important to understand that someone, somewhere, is watching, reading, and listening and such will comprise your audience.

I chose to include categories that are important to me like Education and Advocacy. The other categories are  topics I like to write about. Whatever I write about though, it should be information first, then my opinion last. My audience deserves nothing less and that is how my blog identity was established.

Maintaining Blog Relevance

Maintaining a blog is not a walk in the park. It is definitely hard work but it pays off. There was actually I time I thought that blog maintenance is merely comprised of occasional tweaks in template and I’m all set. I couldn’t be more mistaken.

I learned that I have to ensure my blog’s relevance and presence in the online world. Aside from improving the blog’s appearance, there is a continuing need to connect to my audience. The growth in influencer marketing cannot be denied and I know that the benefits of its use should be considered to the fullest. I got invitations to collaborate with reputable businesses. I even got a surprise bonus of being awarded as one of the Emerging Influential Blogs less than a year from creating this blog.

My Say

Maintaining this blog since 2012 even when I’m busy with parental duties or holding a full-time job is admittedly a big challenge, but I will not have it any other way. It helped me discover my strength in writing. It gave me confidence that my views matter and can connect to other people. Teresay.com is my way of speaking to my audience and that is how I got My Say.
