hotel living

Do you know of someone who considers hotels their home?  Although there are not so many people who have chosen a lifestyle like this, there are those who have actually found hotel living appropriate for their living needs.  It is seen by some as a better version of apartment-style living.

Hotel Living

Hotel living is a living arrangement where an individual or a family occupies a hotel room as their semi-permanent living space.  Instead of regular homes, their “hotel home” serves the purpose of a residential dwelling for all intents and purposes. Payment for this type of arrangement is also based   on a daily rate which is lower than regular rates because of the longer term of stay.  The minimum period for this option is usually 30 days.

Hotel rooms offered for long-term use does not only mean single rooms with very limited space.  Because of the very nature of hotel living, most rooms are fitted with the common amenities found in homes such as kitchen and living area.  Apartment-style hotels fit this bill to a T.

Who Prefers Hotel Living

Individuals who are living alone or career people whose jobs entail frequent and regular traveling are the most common adopters of hotel living.  Some people who live alone find hotel living a more preferred option and why not?  It is like being alone without totally being alone.  The hotel room offers enough privacy while the hotel environment offers enough socialization and interaction with other people.

Career people who frequently travel from one place to another may find the regular home option impractical because of the frequent need to be away due to work obligations. Employees who rarely stay put in one place over 6 months to a year should not be putting their money in considerable real estate investments until they are ready to settle in one place for a much longer period of time.  Hotel living for an employee whether alone or with family is an important option to consider.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Hotel Living

Hotel living gives occupants accessibility to amenities that are not regularly found in traditional homes.  Front desk service, food service, room service, and other services can be availed of in a luxurious environment. All these services are paid for every time they are used thus hotel living tends to be more costly in the long run.

Hotel rooms are generally more comfortable because of the incorporated features such as air-conditioning, cable TV, and Internet connection.  All these have to be addressed on their own by individual home owners. An apartment-style hotel room usually have ample kitchen space in anticipation of the cooking activities of occupants.  Dining out everyday can be very costly and unhealthy.

Hotel living practitioners do not have a permanent address  and would have to settle in using a Post Office Box to serve the purpose. It does however offer the advantage of choice for specific hotels in specific locations.  The proximity of the hotel from work is one of the most recognized advantage of hotel living.  Attachment to home property is not accommodated by hotel living since hotel property will remain such no matter how long the hotel room is occupied by an individual or family.

My Say

Anything that is able to answer a specific need, no matter how unusual, can achieve relevance.  A hotel room may not be the usual idea of a home but it can be converted to one in situations that call for it.  For a select group of people, the interesting world of hotel living is a realistic option.
